Ristorante La Toscana in Herne

Utterly ordinary food at premium prices. We were excited by the prior reviews but it’s just didn’t pan out. The waiter didn’t seem to know much about the menu, just saying everything is good and not really able to explain anything. It kind of dashed our hopes of finding their go-to or quintessential Italian dish. We sent back our drinks a couple times before it became clear that the bartender wasn’t really one. The lamb, streak and antipasto were as plain and every day as mall Italian. We were really disappointed we it’s Kobe that definitely was not and the under seasoned land. The tiramisu was the saving grace we were told it would be. Definitely real ingredients, really made. Well, you win some and...

For some reason the hostess tried to have my friend and I seated at a very small table that looked like it had not been cleaned well , even though we had a reservation and there were nicer tables with outdoor heaters on the other side , so I asked the waiter if we could move and he allowed it. Poor move on the hostess part (or whoever that woman was) they allowed a single person to have a four seater table but wanted us to sit in a corner. I don’t think so. Other than that thoughtless move on her part, the rest of the visit was awesome. The waiter was very nice as well as the gentleman who brought us our drinks . Fritto misto appetizer was EXCELLENT the bruschetta was good as well. We also had the pasta Carbonara. Beef short ribs and adult beverages (yummy) Since we had quite a few menu items I feel confident recommending this restaurant! Once you get past the female that doesn’t know how to seat people with reservations properly, it’s a really good experience!

We had a wonderful evening at Restorante La Toscana. Great food and great friends! I shared the barrata with my husband--Lovely with avocado and heirloom tomatoes. Then, I enjoyed the carbonera, while he had eggplant. Their outdoor area is beautifully done, and I won't hesitate to come back. I'm getting hungry already!

Decided on this place after reviewing the menu and confirming they had an outdoor dining option. Very nice establishment in San Rafael we were finishing up a two day trip in Point Reyes in our 31 ft RV. They had plenty of street parking and were able to accommodate my mom in law, 70, me and my husband 40s and my 13 year old daughter. Food was delicious and the service spectacular. Didn’t care for the risotto dish but they gladly traded it for us to the Cacio de Pepe, a delicious dish with spaghetti. They had gluten free spaghetti for me and Cesar salad my daughter enjoyed. Loved loved the caprese salad and my husband the Fritto dish. We enjoyed coffee and a new Limoncello Blueberry Tiramusu a delicious twist on the traditional but still the usual available if preferred. I highly recommend this restaurant

I had the Gnocchi with meat sauce and it was delicious. My wife had the short rib with mashed potatoes and it was cooked perfectly. Very Large portions, I will definitely be back.

Food is very good, chef willing to modify dishes for allergies. Service has been excellent every time we go. This is truly a Marin County gem.

Super Tasty. Will return soon. Large portions: no room for "secondi" (i.e., seafood, steaks, __ parmigiana) or dessert after salad and pasta courses. ADA accessible.

New Mexico Cuisine at it's best!

This use to be one of my " go to " when living Marin. I hadn't eaten here in many years. The menu's the same, with all the typical Italian dishes you'd expect. Average food, average pricing for Marin. The side dish with my calamari was somewhat tired looking broccoli, and white rice, which any Italian will tell you is NOT Italian. Desserts are average, nothing that speaks Italian. Service was slow, though it was packed, but as patrons left the service was still inattentive. Decaf coffee drinkers beware! I asked for decaf twice, and was given regular. No sleep that night. The noise level was crazy LOUD. It's become a hang out place, especially in their bar.

We loved it! Stopped by after a long day of traveling and we're starving to our surprise this place was cozy and warm and the staff was amazing the food fenommenal

La Toscana is just a fabulous local restaurant that has been here in my home town ever since I can remember! They renovated it in the last few years and the bar area especially is great! I also love the outside dining area. Great waiters who are just Pro’s! Fine Italian authentic cooking. La Toscana holds a special place in my heart.

The food is amazing!! The staff are very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has an outside covered patio with heaters if you like dining al fresco.

Wow, Italian to perfection. Wine down Wednesdays are certainly in effect. I was surprised the proximity to the Civic Center would decrease and commerialize the quality however this is not the case. The words describe our food and service EXCELLENT, FRESH, SMOOTH, FLAVORFUL, DECADENT....need I say more a must add to the list for a visit
